What is VET FEE-HELP?
VET FEE-HELP is a loan scheme designed to help eligible full fee-paying students to pay all or part of their tuition costs for certain VET (Vocational Education and Training) courses delivered by TAFE NSW.
Only selected Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses are eligible (see below for details).
VET FEE-HELP is part of the Australian Government’s Higher Education Loan Program (HELP).
Which courses are eligible for VET FEE-HELP?
VET Fee- Help is available for the following courses in Semester 1, 2012:

Am I eligible for VET FEE-HELP?
You may be eligible to apply for VET FEE-HELP if you:
- are an Australian citizen or permanent humanitarian visa holder and a resident in Australia for the duration of the unit of study in which you are seeking VET FEE-HELP assistance
- are a full fee-paying student enrolled on or before the census date in an eligible unit of study through TAFE Illawarra.
- meet the tax file number requirements
- have completed, signed and submitted a valid request for VET FEE-HELP assistance form through TAFE Illawarra, on or before the census date for the unit or course you are enrolled in
- have not exceeded the VET FEE-HELP limit.
How do I apply for VET FEE-HELP?

In order to prove your eligibility, you will need to present original requested documentation to TAFE Illawarra staff. You will also need to supply your tax file number for the purpose of repaying your FEE-HELP debt.
How much can I borrow?
In 2012, the FEE-HELP limit is $86,422 except for medicine, dentistry and veterinary science courses (that lead to initial registration as practitioners in those fields) where the limit is $108,029. The FEE-HELP limit is indexed on 1 January each year.
You will begin to repay your loan once you reach the minimum income threshold level for repayment which is $44,911 (2010-11). You will repay the loan to the Australian Government via the tax system.
