Awards and Qualifications
TAFE NSW also offers Statements of Attainment and Accredited Short Courses.
TAFE NSW offers non-AQF courses that lead to a TAFE Statement.
Certificates
Certificates range from level I to IV. Some certificate courses link different levels of skills within an occupation.
- Certificate I - Teach the foundation skills required in some industries and are often a part of a suite that you can progress through.
- Certificate II - Provide preparation for employment and/or apprenticeships. They may also include traineeships with an on-the-job component.
- Certificate III - Teach well-developed skills in a range of occupational areas.
- Certificate IV - Usually teach supervisory skills and advanced technical skills which may build upon skills acquired in the workplace, a Certificate III course or equivalent.
Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas
Prepare you for work that requires a broad range of complex technical skills and in-depth knowledge. Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses often include training in management, planning and evaluation, budgeting and finance, as well as the knowledge and skills of the vocational area you have chosen.Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas
May be studied following completion of a degree or an advanced diploma. They usually include either training to build on your undergraduate program, or training in a new professional area.Statement of Attainment
Introduce you to an area of work or can help you gain additional skills in a particular occupation. When you complete a Statement of Attainment, it can be used as a credit transfer into a higher-level TAFE NSW course.Accredited Short Courses
Accredited Short Courses are usually designed for specific purposes. They are not an AQF level qualification but they are widely accepted. Accredited Short Courses are 'stand-alone' courses that are not usually linked to a major course.TAFE Statements
TAFE Statements are developed by TAFE NSW to meet local needs. TAFE Statements can be awarded for specialist courses, or for courses which may be offered only at one or two locations for a brief period of time.
Selected Study Program
A Selected Study Program allows you to study units of competency or modules according to your special interest or needs. You will receive a statement listing the units of competency and modules achieved. For more information on TAFE NSW qualifications and the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) please go to: www.tafensw.edu.au
