What were you doing before you enrolled at TAFE? I was working as a shop assistant and then as a baker/pastrycook in the Bakery Section at Woolworths.
Why did you choose this career path?
The idea of being able to create something spectacular at the end of each day is rewarding. It allows for creativity and it is something I thoroughly enjoy.
What do you enjoy most about your training at TAFE?
The teachers are always encouraging and enthusiastic about teaching the trade. They make the lessons fun and informative.
Do you think your training at TAFE will be a major factor in securing a (successful) career in your industry, or help you to move on to further study/training? How? Yes. A trade certificate means that I will be recognised as a trained tradesperson and this will help me to progress into a senior role. It will also mean that my skills will be recognised if I was to travel with my job or move to other area of the baking industry.
What is your advice to others thinking about their career & future education?
Make sure that you learn all that you can. TAFE is a fantastic way to do this as it provides great training, knowledge and skills.
