Traineeships and apprenticeships combine work and structured training. They include:
- Paid employment under an award or enterprise agreement
- A training contract signed by both the employer and trainee and registered with the NSW Department of Education and Training [DET] State Training Services.
- A training program delivered by TAFE NSW - Illawarra Institute that leads to a nationally recognised qualification at Certificate II, III or IV level or in some cases Diploma.
