The Recruitment Process
The process outlined below will help you to understand the TAFE NSW - Illawarra Institute's recruitment process.
| Step 1 | Position advertised. |
| Step 2 | Applicant submits application to the location advised in the information package. The application should include a covering letter, statement against selection criteria, resume, and forms as specified in the information package. Written references are not required. Printed applications should have pages stapled not placed in display folders. |
| Step 3 | Selection panel determines selection strategy and undertakes initial shortlisting. |
| Step 4 | Applicants called for skills or trade testing (some panels may choose not to use testing). |
| Step 5 | Selection panel undertakes a further shortlisting, applicants called to interview and possibly further testing. |
| Step 6 | Selection panel contacts referees. |
| Step 7 | Interview |
| Step 8 | Selection panel determines applicants suitable/not suitable for appointment. |
| Step 9 | Successful candidate is announced and all applicants notified of the outcome of their application. |
Advertising of Job Vacancies
Vacancies are advertised:
- in the relevant media (local newspapers, metroplitan newspapers, industry publications)
- online at jobs nsw and on this website
The advertisement will include a summary of the main role of the position, location, and closing date for applications. Additional information regarding the advertised position is contained in the information package.
The Information Package
An information package is developed for each advertised position. Applicants will need to obtain a copy of the information package if they wish to apply. The information package for each position includes the selection criteria, position description or statement of duties, a set of forms, and information about the Illawarra Institute.
It is very important to read through all the content of the information package because this information will assist you to complete your application.
Some positions may require you to complete additional forms so you need to download or obtain the forms for each position.
