Australian Apprenticeships
Australian Apprenticeships, the name now used for traineeships and apprenticeships, offer the option for training while you work and are available in over 500 qualifications, some of which are aviation, horticulture, hospitality, design and carpentry.
Australian Apprenticeships Access Programme (AAAP) helps job seekers get better skills and improves their chances of getting an Australian Apprenticeship. Job seekers can use the Access Programme to get into employment or further education or training.
Assistance to Australian Apprentices with a disability includes providing additional support to eligible employers who recruit an apprentice with a disability. There are three types of assistance available:
- Disabled Australian Apprentice Wage Support is available to an employer who currently employs an apprentice with a disability who has been assessed as a person requiring assistance. Evidence must be provided to support a claim for assistance.
- Assistance for Tutorial, Interpreter and Mentor Services is payable directly to the Registered Training Organisation to support an apprentice with a disability who has been assessed as eligible for Disabled Australian Apprentice Wage Support and who requires additional assistance with off-the-job training.
- Workplace Modifications funding is available for necessary modifications to the workplace of the employer of an apprentice with a disability. These may include the purchase, lease or hire of equipment that will assist the apprentice in their work.
Australian Apprenticeship Centres
Australian Apprenticeship Centres are mainly a resource, and provide assistance to employers on employing an apprentice. People interested in completing an apprenticeship need to be under the employment of an employer or group training company.
