Courses offered at Illawarra Institute for international students include Advanced Diplomas, Diplomas or Certificates in:

TAFE NSW Studies and University
Almost all TAFE NSW courses from Certificate IV level and above will qualify for credit transfer or as foundation studies with Australian Universities, including the University of Wollongong. Advanced Diploma and Diploma graduates can apply for credit transfer with all Australian Universities and most of these Universities will have formal credit transfer and articulation arrangements with TAFE NSW. The result is you can complete your degree up to two years faster once you start at university.

About Diploma-to-Degree courses
Diploma-to-Degree programs are educational packages between TAFE NSW - Technical & Further Education Commission and selected universities.
Diploma-to-Degree courses enable graduates to gain a TAFE NSW Diploma or Advanced Diploma through linked TAFE NSW and University programs leading to a degree.
The Illawarra Institute currently has the following Diploma to Degree programs available to our International students:
- Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality Management) Diploma in Hospitality Management. This is a dual qualification program with Illawarra Institute and University of Wollongong.
- Diploma to Degree (D2D) program with University of Western Sydney and University of Southern Queensland. Linked programs in Information Technology, Business Studies, Tourism, Hospitality, Early Childhood and Humanities.
- Bachelor of Business Administration (Event Management / Diploma in Event Management) with the University of Wollongong
- Bachelor of Business Administration (Tourism Management) / Advanced Diploma Tourism Management with the University of Wollongong
Advantages:
- A guaranteed place in a degree course while completing a TAFE NSW Diploma or Advanced Diploma course.
- Allows students to apply for one visa only a Higher Education visa for studies both at TAFE NSW and University or English Language, TAFE NSW and University.
- Allows students to gain two qualifications - a skills based Diploma and a Degree.
Entry Requirements for Diploma-to-Degree university pathways
Entry requirements for Diploma-to-Degree courses with UWS, UTS, MQ and ACAP are the same as the requirements for any TAFE Diploma or Advanced Diploma for international students:
- Academic requirement: successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent; for some courses assumed knowledge applies.
- English Proficiency: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 213 (computer) 550 (paper) or equivalent. Note that students from some countries are required to take an IELTS test for visa purposes.
- Students apply to the Illawarra Institute International Business Unit using the TAFE NSW application form and an undergraduate application form. Successful applicants receive an Offer Letter from TAFE NSW and a Conditional Offer from the University.
- Students must successfully complete the TAFE Diploma before transferring to the degree program.
